Yes, it is recommended that you know how to swim in order to go snorkelling, especially during a self-guided experience. We have a range of floatation devices available if you are not confident enough in the water. Alternatively, you can opt for our Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands & Snorkelling guided tour.
Yes, for self-guided snorkelling trips a minimum of 6 years of age is recommended to snorkel. All children must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.
Yes, there are sharks in every ocean and a variety inhabit the Whitsunday Islands. The most frequently seen sharks around the islands are that of sickle fin lemon sharks and white/black tip reef sharks, which are quite timid in nature. They are not a threat to swimmers or snorkellers around the islands.
